Welcome to Audience of Two
What is This Place?
Welcome to the Audience of Two, sometimes called Ao2, homepage. Ao2 is a small group of writers, artists, and musicians who put a sample of their works on the web every week in something resembling a magazine.
So what?
So what nothing. It's light, fluffy, and fun to read. A great way to kill some time when you should be doing your job or your homework.
Who cares?
We do. Our friends. Not our parents. We did get a write-up in the Chicago Sun-Times and FHM, for what it's worth.
This sucks/This is awesome
You're in luck. Ao2 is powered in part by the unique Badass Game, which gives you, the random web surfer, control over the magazine. Do you like an article? Go ahead and give it some badass points and watch it rise. If you want it to disappear, knock it down a peg. Vote as often as you like.
I don't understand your articles
There's not a lot of rhyme or reason to them. They're mostly tongue-in-cheek. On the left side are one-time articles, things like medium sized stories or short jokes. On the right side are recurring features that tend to stick around from week to week. Some popular features include:
  • Cartoons: The Audience of Toon is one of several web comics in the works.
  • Puzzles: Because this is the only piece of the magazine that gives away prizes, the Puzzle Corner is mixed up each and every week by a crack team of scientists, lead by team leader Dr. Fin (a dolphin)
  • Blogs: Like blogs, only they come out but once a week tops. Writers Sam Dingman and Ben Masten talk about their lives in Observations on Life and Aspiring Swamp Hermit respectively.
  • Tool or Enemy: You submit. YOU DECIDE!
  • Novellas: Occasional installments in longer stories. Recent series include The Adventures of Johnny Appleseed, Horace the Hobo King, The Bahamas Dramas,
  • Boswell: The Ao2 Authority/Biographer is always bringin' up the rear with his weekly musings on the state of the magazine.
    Whoa. Can I contribute something?
    Probably. E-mail
resume@audienceoftwo.com and we'll get in touch with you. We can't pay you, though.
What about advertising. Can I sell advertising on your site?
Probably not. We'll throw up links to our friend's sites on occasion, but prefer to keep things uncluttered. You could donate a prize to the winner of the puzzle corner each week.
    I have more questions/comments
Okay. E-mail questions@audienceoftwo.com and we'll help you out.

Hey Aaron McGruder, creator of the Boondocks... what do you have to say?
